Do repeating emotions or reactions sometimes leave you wondering what is happening beneath the surface?
Are there parts of yourself that you have learned to suppress, judge or keep hidden?
Would you like to understand shadow work through the symbolism and teachings of the mystery-school traditions?
The shadow contains qualities, emotions and patterns that have moved beyond our everyday awareness. It may hold unresolved fear, anger or vulnerability, but it can also contain creativity, confidence and strengths that have never been fully expressed.
In this grounded online course, you will explore the relationship between the Jungian shadow and the transformational teachings associated with the mystery schools.
Discover how symbolic descent, initiation, alchemy, Hermetic polarity, Gnostic ideas and embodied practice can illuminate the journey from inner division towards greater awareness and wholeness.
This course does not ask you to force painful experiences or become consumed by the darker parts of yourself. It offers a compassionate educational framework for recognising hidden influences, reclaiming suppressed qualities and developing greater discernment and inner authority.
Self-paced • Lifetime Access • Beginner friendly • Recorded lesson • Written further study • Price: £20
Shadow work is not about searching for darkness or judging the parts of yourself you have learned to hide.
In this course, you will explore how unconscious emotions, reactions and rejected qualities may influence your relationships, choices and spiritual development.
You will also discover the golden shadow: the creativity, confidence, courage and personal power that may have remained hidden alongside more difficult emotions.
Through Jungian ideas and mystery-school symbolism, you will gain a clearer understanding of projection, initiation, inner authority and integration.
The aim is not perfection or forced emotional exploration. It is to meet yourself with greater honesty and compassion, reclaim what has been suppressed and move towards a more conscious and integrated way of being.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Understand how the shadow can influence your emotions, reactions, relationships and spiritual development.
Recognise projection, repeating patterns and hidden qualities with greater clarity.
Explore the connection between shadow work, symbolic initiation and the mystery-school traditions.
Understand how alchemy, Hermetic teachings and selected Gnostic ideas relate to transformation and integration.
Identify strengths, gifts and qualities that may have been suppressed within the golden shadow.
Develop a more compassionate and grounded way of meeting difficult inner material.
Strengthen your discernment, self-awareness and inner authority.
Leave with a clearer framework for moving towards greater wholeness.
The aim is not to tell you what to believe, but to help you explore the teachings through reflection, embodied practice and your own direct experience.

You are curious about shadow work but want to approach it gently and responsibly.
You notice repeating emotional reactions or relationship patterns and want to understand them more clearly.
You are interested in Jungian psychology, mystery schools, alchemy, Hermeticism or Gnostic symbolism.
You want to explore both difficult emotions and the strengths hidden within the golden shadow.
You have experienced spiritual growth that feels incomplete, ungrounded or disconnected from everyday life.
You want to recognise projection and develop greater discernment in your relationships and spiritual practice.
You value compassion, personal agency and embodied integration over fear, pressure or dramatic promises.
You are willing to reflect honestly while moving at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
This course is not suitable for anyone seeking therapy, trauma treatment or crisis support, or for those who feel pressured to explore difficult inner material before they are ready.
This course begins by exploring the origins of the shadow and its relationship to the work of Carl Jung. You will look at the personal shadow, the collective shadow and the golden shadow, gaining a clearer understanding of how hidden emotions, rejected qualities and suppressed strengths can continue to shape your experience.
You will then examine how triggers, projection and unconscious patterns can influence your perception, relationships and choices. From there, the course moves into the mystery-school themes of descent, initiation, symbolic death and rebirth, showing how these ancient motifs can be understood as reflections of inner transformation.
The course also introduces the alchemical stages of nigredo, albedo and rubedo, together with Hermetic polarity and the relationship between light, shadow and wholeness. Selected Gnostic ideas, including the Monad, Archons, Pleroma and Christos consciousness, are explored as symbolic teachings connected with separation, distortion, awakening and integration.
You will also consider spiritual bypassing, inner authority and the importance of grounded discernment. The course concludes by exploring the role of dreams, symbols, sound, movement and embodied spiritual practice, alongside the compassion, patience and safe pacing needed to support meaningful integration.
Peter Paul Parker is the founder of Bright Beings Academy, a Qi Gong instructor, sound healer and spiritual guide.
His teaching brings together embodied practice, spiritual exploration and grounded self-awareness. Rather than encouraging fear, dependency or dramatic claims, Peter offers a compassionate approach that supports personal agency, discernment and steady integration.

Within this course, he guides you through the relationship between shadow work and the mystery-school traditions, helping you explore the material with curiosity, care and respect for your own pace.
Do I need any previous experience with shadow work?
No. This course is suitable for beginners and introduces the central ideas clearly and gradually. You do not need previous knowledge of Jungian psychology, mystery schools, alchemy, Hermeticism or Gnostic teachings.
Is this course a form of therapy?
No. This is an educational and reflective course. It does not replace psychotherapy, trauma treatment, medical care or personalised mental-health support.
Will I be expected to revisit painful experiences?
No. The course does not ask you to force memories, emotional releases or difficult experiences. You are encouraged to move at your own pace and pause whenever something does not feel appropriate for you.
Does the course present Archons as literal beings?
The Archons are explored primarily as symbolic representations of limiting or distorting forces that can affect perception and inner freedom. You are not required to accept any spiritual interpretation as unquestionable fact.
Is shadow work only about difficult emotions?
No. The shadow may contain fear, anger, grief and vulnerability, but it can also hold confidence, creativity, courage and personal power. The course explores both the difficult shadow and the golden shadow.
What should I do if the course feels overwhelming?
Pause the material and return to something grounding, such as gentle breathing, movement or contact with a trusted person. If significant distress arises, seek appropriate support from a qualified mental-health professional.
What is the aim of Shadow Work and the Mystery Schools?
The aim is not to achieve perfection or remove every difficult emotion. It is to develop greater self-awareness, discernment, compassion and inner authority while moving towards a more integrated relationship with yourself.
