Isochronic Tone Builder Instructions

Design crisp, speaker‑friendly pulses for focus, calm, and sleep.

Welcome to the Bright Beings Academy Isochronic Tone Builder.

This advanced, browser‑based tool lets you create clear on/off pulses at specific rates (Hz) with fine control over depth, duty cycle, and edge smoothing (envelope)—plus timers and soft fades for comfortable sessions.

Speakers are perfect for isochronic tones. Headphones are optional. Keep volume low and comfortable.

Quick Start (3 Steps)

1. Pick an aim (sleep, calm, focus, deep work).

2. Set the pulse rate (Hz) to match your aim (guide below), then keep depth modest and duty cycle near 50%.

3. Set a timer, press Start, and adjust slowly after the fade‑in.

Controls (What you’ll see)

Pulse Frequency (Hz): The on/off rate of the tone (e.g., 10 Hz for Alpha).

Depth (Intensity): How strong the pulses feel. Higher = punchier; start low.

Duty Cycle (%): The percentage of each cycle the tone is on (e.g., 50% on / 50% off). Lower values feel more percussive; higher feel smoother.

Envelope (Edge Smoothing): Softens the click at pulse edges. More smoothing = gentler pulses.

Master Volume: Conservative output to avoid spikes.

Timer: 10, 20, 30, 45, 60‑minute options.

Ramps: Smooth fade‑in/out for click‑free starts and endings.

Start/Stop controls.

How to Use the Builder (Detailed)

Choose one clear intention for the session.

Dial the pulse frequency for the target band:

Delta (0.5–4 Hz): deep rest / pre‑sleep (e.g., 2–3 Hz)

Theta (4–8 Hz): meditation / creative flow (e.g., 6 Hz)

Alpha (8–12 Hz): calm focus / relaxed reading (e.g., 10 Hz)

SMR / Low Beta (12–15 Hz): tidy, sustained attention (e.g., 13 Hz)

Beta (15–20 Hz): active thinking; use briefly (e.g., 16–18 Hz)

Set Depth low‑to‑moderate (start ~20–40%). Increase only if you truly need more presence.

Start near 50% Duty Cycle. If it feels too staccato, increase; if too soft, decrease slightly.

Add Envelope smoothing until clicks soften and the pulse feels comfortable.

Press Start and let the fade‑in complete. Make changes gradually and wait 15–30 seconds to feel the effect.

Set the timer and stay with gentle, even breathing.

Tip: If the pulse feels hard or fatiguing, reduce Depth, increase Envelope, or nudge Duty Cycle up a little.

Practical Band Guide (Plain‑English)

These are common associations; experiences vary and no medical claims are made.

Sleep / Pre‑sleep: Delta 2–3 Hz — very gentle; keep sessions quiet and longer.

Meditation / Unwind: Theta 5–7 Hz — soft and slow; good late afternoon/evening.

Calm Focus / Study: Alpha ~10 Hz — balanced and sustainable for 20–30 minutes.

Sustained Attention: SMR 12–15 Hz — tidy, steady focus for deep work blocks.

Brief Boost: Beta 16–18 Hz — short, intentional bursts only.

Recommended Routines

Alpha Focus 25: 10 Hz, Depth 30%, Duty 55%, Envelope medium; 25 minutes, then a 5‑minute break.

Theta Calm 15: 6 Hz, Depth 25%, Duty 50%, Envelope medium‑high; 15 minutes, finish with 2 minutes of quiet.

Delta Drift 30–40: 2.5 Hz, Depth 20%, Duty 60%, Envelope high; lights low, pre‑sleep.

SMR Deep Work 30: 13 Hz, Depth 30–35%, Duty 55%, Envelope medium; posture upright, nose breathing.

Troubleshooting

Clicky / harsh pulses? Increase Envelope, raise Duty slightly, or reduce Depth.

Too intense / buzzy? Lower Depth, drop Frequency to a calmer band, or shorten the session.

Sleepy when you need focus? Move from Theta → Alpha or SMR, and sit upright.

No sound? Check master/device output; press Start (browsers may block autoplay).

FAQs on Isochronic Tone Builder

Do I need headphones?
No—speakers work well for isochronic tones. Headphones are optional.

What Depth should I use?
Start low (20–40%). Increase only if you need more presence.

What does Duty Cycle change?
It changes how long the tone is on each cycle. Higher duty = smoother; lower = more percussive.

Why use Envelope?
To soften clicks at pulse edges. More envelope = gentler pulses.

How long should I listen?
Begin with 10–20 minutes. Extend to 30–45 minutes if comfortable.
