At Bright Beings Academy, wellbeing is not viewed simply as an individual journey.
Over the years, our work has extended into community spaces, wellbeing projects, local classes, and supportive environments where people from many different backgrounds and stages of life can access gentle movement, breathing practices, relaxation, and human connection.
This includes work with:
Older adults
Community groups
Beginners to Qi Gong
People experiencing stress and isolation
Individuals rebuilding confidence in movement and wellbeing
Accessible and seated wellbeing sessions
Our aim has always been to create calm, welcoming, and supportive spaces where people feel encouraged rather than pressured, and where wellbeing practices can be adapted to meet people where they are.
Many participants describe these experiences not simply as exercise classes, but as moments of connection, calm, movement, relaxation, and emotional support within everyday life.
Behind every wellbeing session is a real person with their own experiences, challenges, hopes, and journey toward feeling more connected and supported within daily life.
During the Brighter Living wellbeing sessions, many participants shared meaningful experiences relating to movement, confidence, emotional wellbeing, relaxation, and community connection.
While every person’s experience is unique, these stories reflect the human-centred and accessible approach that sits at the heart of the work.

Chandra began attending the community Qi Gong classes after experiencing multiple strokes which had significantly affected her mobility and confidence.
According to the Brighter Living report, she initially relied on a wheelchair and had been told she was unlikely to regain movement in one of her limbs. Over time, and alongside her own determination and support system, she described experiencing gradual improvements in movement and sensation after attending the classes consistently.
The report explains that after several months she began experiencing sensation returning in her foot and leg and was eventually able to move with the support of a walking stick rather than a wheelchair.
Her story reflects not only physical perseverance, but also the importance of encouragement, gentle movement, community support, and maintaining hope during difficult periods of life.

Parames attended the Qi Gong sessions while living with ongoing pain and multiple health difficulties that often left her feeling physically and emotionally exhausted.
Within the Brighter Living report, she described the sessions as a space where she could relax deeply, focus her mind fully on the exercises, and temporarily step away from the discomfort she experienced in everyday life.
For her, the classes became more than movement alone.
They became a calming and meditative space that supported emotional wellbeing, relaxation, and inner resilience alongside the physical practice itself.

Sheila joined the classes while struggling with severe shoulder pain and restricted movement caused by a frozen shoulder.
According to the report, traditional treatments had provided little improvement, and the pain had significantly affected her daily life and sleep.
After several months of attending the Qi Gong sessions, she reported gradual improvements in her movement, increased comfort, and a better ability to sleep without pain disrupting the night.
Her story reflects how gentle and accessible movement practices can sometimes help people reconnect with confidence, movement, and wellbeing in ways that feel manageable and supportive.
Many people who attend classes and wellbeing sessions describe feeling calmer, more grounded, more connected, and more supported through gentle and consistent practice.
These experiences come from people of many different ages and backgrounds, including those completely new to Qi Gong and holistic wellbeing practices.
“Qi Gong improves physical and mental wellbeing. It is suitable for all ages and abilities. It helps me to focus my energy on what’s really important and to practise gratitude.”
Janice Fidegul

“It’s become a space I look forward to each week — a little oasis of movement and meditation that helps me reconnect, re-centre, and simply be.”
Joanne Whalley
These experiences are not presented as medical claims or guarantees of specific outcomes. Every person’s wellbeing journey is different, and experiences naturally vary from individual to individual.
However, stories such as these highlight the importance of creating supportive community spaces where people feel:
encouraged rather than pressured
included rather than isolated
supported rather than judged
At Bright Beings Academy, wellbeing is approached not simply as physical exercise, but as a combination of movement, breathing, connection, awareness, encouragement, and community support.
For many people, especially older adults or those navigating periods of stress, isolation, or reduced confidence, these small moments of movement and connection can become deeply meaningful parts of everyday life.

Alongside written testimonials and impact reports, many members of the Bright Beings Academy and Brighter Living communities have also shared their experiences through video reflections and community feedback.
These videos help show the human side of the sessions more clearly — including the atmosphere, accessibility, encouragement, and sense of connection experienced within the classes.
For many participants, the value of the sessions extends beyond movement alone.
People often describe:
feeling calmer and more emotionally balanced
reconnecting with confidence and motivation
enjoying social interaction and community support
building gentle routines that support wellbeing over time
feeling more connected to themselves and others
Several participants involved in the Brighter Living community sessions also shared experiences relating to movement, confidence, relaxation, and emotional wellbeing following regular participation.

Over the years, Bright Beings Academy and related community wellbeing projects have supported people through accessible movement, breathing practices, relaxation, and community-based wellbeing sessions.
The Brighter Living Impact Report highlighted several important themes reported by participants attending the sessions.
These included:
Improved flexibility and movement confidence
Greater relaxation and emotional calm
Better balance and coordination
Increased social connection and inclusiveness
Supportive group participation
Gentle physical activity for older adults
Accessible wellbeing support for varying ability levels
The report also highlighted the importance of consistency, encouragement, and supportive community environments in helping participants engage with wellbeing practices over time.
Community sessions reached approximately 100 elderly participants per week across several Surrey-based locations, including New Malden, Chessington, and Kingston.
For many participants, the sessions became more than simply a weekly activity.
